***Solar Flares***

All the time, the sun is sending out large quantities of radioactive material trough solar flares. Fortunately, most of the radioactivity never makes it all the way to the earth.

Sometimes, big explosions happen on the sun and the solar flares will send even more, radioactive matter our way. Scientists from NASA believe that such a large explosion will happen on the sun in year 2012.

***Polar Reversal***

Our Earth has a magnetic field that protects us from the sun. The South and North Pole create these magnetic fields, which protect us.

However, in December 2012, the flares from the sun can cause the poles to switch places. If this happens, the world as we know it will not be same.

***Natural Disasters***

If the poles switch places, a lot of electrical equipment will stop to function properly. GPS Devices will not work anymore and many animals will simply die (birds for example uses the magnetic forces from the poles to navigate).

We will also see large tsunamis, volcanoes and earthquakes.
